Week 9, Thing 20: Discover YouTube

Okay, so I’m searching for a video on YouTube to post as my part of Week 9, Thing 20 and using “Cecil County, Maryland” as my search terms since I do genealogy research in that area. I was hoping to come up with something like a tour of the area. But no, I found this video about zombies in Elkton which is in Cecil County. AwesomeRyan has opened my eyes to the ninja phenomenom but apparently there’s a zombie phenomenom too! Kind of like web 2.0 for most of us. These things have been going on and I just wasn’t paying attention!
Week 9, Thing 20: Discover YouTube and a few sites that allow you to upload video
Published August 3, 2007 Learning2.0 , Videos Leave a CommentI explored YouTube a while ago and posted several videos relating to Web 2.0 on this blog. You can find them by clicking on my category for ‘video.” Its amazingly easy to use YouTube. Some applications for libraries and YouTube might be for showing people some of the interesting programs we have (with the performers permission of course). Tours of the library. Welcome to the Library. I found 2 entries that mention Baltimore County Public Library, one being Sneaks Summer Reading Promo and the other is Azalea Goes to the Library, posted by one of our customers. Nice advertisement for out library if people stumble across these videos.

Two verisons of the video clip “Marion the Librarian.” Which one do you like better?
One of my favorite songs from The Music Man Starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones
Matthew Broderick singing Marian the Librarian to Kristin Chenoweth in Disney’s release of Meredith Willson’s the Music Man.
I guess this should be added to our “No” Log!
Lee Lefever and his wife Sachi made this video for their friends (and ours) who haven’t yet felt the power of our friend the RSS reader. We want to convert people… if you know someone who would love RSS and hasn’t yet tried it, point them here for 3.5 minutes of RSS in Plain English.
Helene Blowers, Public Services Technology Director for the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County (PLCMC), reflects on “Learning 2.0″ and then blogs about the best practices she learned while offering the Learning 2.0 program at her library.
